Rides to Remember...  or like to forget???

The David Westphall

VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL RIDE

The tentative itinerary will be:

  • Stage at Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson ( http://rmh-d.com/ ) on Friday June 12, 2009.  Kick stands up and bikes rolling at 9:30 am.  The store opens at 9:00 am so there will be time for that last minute potty break.  There are gas stations very near by to top off at BEFORE staging at RMHD.
  • We will go south on Santa Fe to Castle Rock where we will get on I-25 to Pueblo, CO. Approx 2 hrs.
  • At Pueblo we will get off of I-25 at exit 102 where we will top off with gas and take a break.  Thirty minutes max.
  • Then we will go south on I-25 to Raton, NM.  Approx 2 hrs.
  • At Raton we will have lunch and fill our tanks. 60 minutes max.
  • Then we will go south on US 64 to Taos. This is the prettiest part of the ride.
  • We should arrive in Taos approximately 6: pm.
  • Saturday morning, around 10:00 am, we will visit the National Memorial and do a day ride around the area.  Lunch will probably be in Taos, NM.
  • Sunday June 14, 2009 we will head home.  If the weather is good there is the option of riding home via US 285.  This route would be a longer and slower ride home so getting an early start is important.  US 285 or I-25 will be up to you.
